Either way, I left it incomplete, and decided not to fix the errors. It was great practice and had a good time doing this. I am aware that the painting looks pasty and grey; especially his body- but the reference image was pretty much just like that- which is the reason I decided to paint it in the first place; capturing all the tones and shades of a pale persons skin colour.
Done in photoshop using mostly the default "Airbrush Pen Opacity Flow" brush.

don't apologize.
they're good.
This is really good, I like the direction your taking.
Journey, I dont think I did apologize? lol
Man I'd love to see it finished. I really like how it's coming along.
Love it, amazing quality.
You are right. Painting skin tone and textures are the most challenging part.
Here you done a great job!!
I like the subtle blending of color. How do you approach developing the structure planes?
Wow this is amazing. You really have skills!
Love the paste-y color palette! Works wonders for this!
Hey there Abz.
Wanna say two things.
I really like the warmth that you have captured in the nose and I like the random splatterings/dots that suggest the imperfections of someone's skin.
Well done in not overworking the image - JC
really great stuff, man. you really have a huge range, my friend.
I really really like this one.
Awesome work sir! I like the fact you felt you'd got to a place where you could stop and the piece does all you want it to. You really have got a marvelous luminosity to the skins hue, and lovely tone. I remember seeing something on the Lord of the Rings making of DVD which showed an artist airbrushing the dead Sean Bean mannequin. He talked about trying to capture the 3D depth of skin layers, blood vessels and skeletal structure in 2D (which he did to jaw dropping effect). While on the subject the CGI rendering for Gollum made use of 'sub surface scattering' of light to try and show the same effect. You a fan of Lucien Freud's work...? Amazing colours and loose treatment. Excellent work on the blog of late... keep up the pace sir!
PS. Olivia will give me nightmares tonight ;)
this is beautiful I love how the skin looks almost silvery with its paleness!
